On-site supervision is recommended following initial skill instruction and after all safety concerns have been emphasized.
Instructional Considerations
Warm-up activities should emphasize conditioning and flexibility.
Body contact is not allowed.
Interception of the ball is forbidden in order to prevent aggressions or physical contact between opponents.
Standard matches of three periods of 10 minutes should be modified to three periods of 8 minutes for younger players.
Players must immediately stop gameplay if the referee has called an injury.
Any player who violates the spirit of the game through disrespectful behaviour towards an opponent, referee, spectator, or teammate will receive a warning (yellow card) or expulsion from play at the discretion of the referee. Expelled players may be replaced.
Equipment / Facilities
A 3m wide unobstructed perimeter around the playing area is recommended.
The net frame must be fixed in place during play such that it is not a danger to players.
All player’s wheelchairs must have rear casters, and handrails on both wheels. (note: rear casters are not considered equal to one of the four wheels and are not considered as a point of reference for player position).
Front bumpers are allowed but not mandatory.
Rubber balls are preferred to leather to avoid trauma to fingers and face.
