Supervision

  • On-site supervision is mandatory for all instruction and practice of all taekwondo skills.

 

Instructional Considerations

  • Teacher should emphasize the importance of anticipation, avoidance of risky situations, self-defense tactics and appropriate aggression.
  • All instructors should be NCCP certified as Assistant Instructors/Dojang Coach.
  • Warm-up activities should emphasize cardiovascular conditioning, balance and flexibility.
  • Start with simple moves and once the student is proficient in the basic movements, slowly increase the level of difficulty of the movements.
  • Body contact should not be allowed.
  • Teacher should know the style of martial arts and the techniques the instructor plans to teach.
  • Teacher should emphasize the importance of self-control during self-defense tactics and simulated aggression.

 

Equipment/Facilities

  • Bare feet and loose, comfortable clothing should be worn.
  • Floor surface should be clear of debris, smooth, level and dry.
  • Mats should be used for landings where appropriate.
