Supervision

  • On-site supervision is recommended following initial skill instruction and after all safety concerns have been emphasized.

 

Instructional Considerations

  • Body contact, or stick-on-body contact, should not be allowed.
  • A crease should be implemented for the protection of the goalie.
  • Other players (including their sticks) should not be allowed in the crease.
  • Players’ sticks must remain below the waist at all times.
  • All rules should be clearly outlined and enforced.
  • A rubber or felt quoit should be used.

 

Equipment/Facilities

  • Students must have adequate eye protection in the form of safety goggles.
  • Students may wear gloves to protect their hands.
  • Goalies must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and facemask.
  • Students should only use gym ringette sticks and rings indoors.
  • Sticks should be checked regularly for cracks and splinters.
